Uttarakhand CM, Ramesh Pokahriyal ‘Nishank’ has got the Cabinet to greenlight his dream project—an Ayurvedic University in the state. The decision to set up the University was taken at the first meeting of the state cabinet .

For this project CM ‘Nishank’ has asked the union government to provide financial assistance of Rs 100 Crore for the upcoming Ayurvedic University in the state. He told Union Health Minister Gulam Nabi Azad that Uttarakhand has potential to strengthen alternative medicinal system since we have immense treasure of herbs. It would be a state of the art centre for processing herbs and carrying research.

He also asked the Union Health Minister to start work on the proposed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh. The then NDA government had approved AIIMS in Rishikesh in 2001.
