Established in 1963, LSM Govt. Post Graduate College Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand) is an affiliatedcollege of Kumaun university, Nainital (A 4 star accredited university by NAAC). The college which is being developed as a model college by govt. of Uttarakhand, is among 65 government colleges in Uttarakhand and is the only college in the Kumaon Division of Uttarakhand that has secured B++ grade from NAAC.

The college is located in the district headqurters of Pithoragarh district and is situated at 151 km. and 220 km. road distance from the rail heads of Tanakpur and Kathgodam respectively. Pithoragarh itself is an important tourist destination and is the gateway to a number of tourists attractions in the higher Himalaya including Kailash Mansarover yatra and Indo-china boarder trade.
