The Foundation stone for Sankar International School was laid on 26th March 2003 and by 5th April 2004 the school started functioning, initially from Play Group to Class Five, growing by one class every year, since then. Mr. B. P. Joshi, formerly with the oldest public schools of India-  The Lawrence School of Sanawar, Simla Hills, became the first Principal. Since then, within a span of four years the school started Class IX  after being affiliated to Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi and has made its place in the top ranking schools of the state. The school is established on 10 acres of land at Badripore situated on Haridwar Road (Airport Road) in Dehradun which connects it with ‘Char Dham’ the most auspicious holy pilgrimages located on the great Himalayas namely- Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath.
