The students of Uttarakhand have been long deprived of medical education because there is no medical college in Uttarakhand in the public sector. The Government of Uttarakhand decided to have their own medical college in public sector at Haldwani, and Dr. Susheela Tiwari Memorial Forest Hospital will be the associated teaching hospital of medical college which will be manned and managed by highly qualified and dedicated senior professors and professionals of repute in their respective fields, who will provide medical services of excellence to the people of Uttarakhand. The Base and Female Hospital are also the Teaching Hospital of the Medical College along with Dr. Susheela Tiwari Memorial Forest Hospital.
The medical college houses the departments of Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic Medicine, Social & Preventive Medicineand Biochemistry and the laboratories for under graduate students are on par with international standards. The Phantom head Laboratories provide space for 100 students each.
